Keeping a Roof Over the Heads of Howard County Residents

Community Action Council of Howard County offers housing assistance to low-income Howard County residents. Assistance includes eviction prevention (providing individuals and families with one-time financial grants), First Month’s Rent (assists with paying the first month’s rent when an individual or family is moving into a new home), One Month’s Rent (assists with paying one month’s rent past due), or assistance with other housing emergencies.

CAC UNIVERSAL APPLICATION for the Head of Household and this ADDITIONAL FAMILY MEMBER APPLICATION for each additional person in the home.

How to Apply

Howard County residents living in the 20723, 20763, and 20759 zip codes at the North Laurel-Savage Multiservice Center located at: 9900 Washington Blvd, Laurel, MD 20723 in order to receive services.

Residents of all other zip codes are seen at the Gateway Office located at: 6751 Columbia Gateway Drive, 2nd floor, Columbia, MD 21046.

What to Bring

WHAT TO BRING

  • Picture Identification for applicant and spouse (if applicable).
  • Social Security Cards for all members of the household.
  • Proof of gross income for 30 days prior to the date of the application.
    • Pay Stubs
    • 1 if paid monthly, 2 if paid bi-weekly or twice a month, 4 if paid weekly.
    • Letter on employer’s letterhead indicating gross income for the period.
    • Social Security, SSI or Pension Award Letter.
  • Lease/Mortgage Statement
  • Judgment for Eviction.
