Programs & Services

For nearly 50 years, CAC has served the Howard County community by helping people help themselves. Our aim is not to provide a hand-out, but rather a hand-up. Through strong partnerships with all levels of public and private sector along with dedicated volunteers, we serve our clients with strong dedication every day.

In support of low-income residents, we provide the following services:

  • Energy Assistance and Weatherization – Financial assistance to individuals/families with electric bills. The Program also assists income-eligible homeowners and renters with Weatherization which results in energy efficiency and lower electric bills.
  • Housing Assistance Eviction Prevention –Provides individuals/families with a one-time financial grant for Eviction Prevention or One Month’s Rent.
  • Early Childhood Education – Provides Head Start and Pre-K programming for income-eligible children ages 3-5. The programs provide school readiness through enhancing academic, cognitive, social and emotional development of students. 
  • Food Assistance- Provides food assistance to individuals and families.
