Community Action Council changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.

Community Action Council provides programs and emergency services for the low-income population of Howard County in order to alleviate the effects of poverty and promote self-sufficiency. The type of services offered ranges from housing assistance (which includes Eviction Prevention, First Month’s Rent, One Month's Rent, and the Rental Allowance Program) to energy assistance, the Food Bank, and Head Start.

The hours of operation at 6751 Columbia Gateway Drive, Columbia, Maryland will be

Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays,

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

CAC is closed for clients on Wednesdays.

Free winter coats and clothing (children's, women's and men's) are available on Saturday, Nov. 22, 9 a.m. to noon, at Roslyn Rise Community Center, 10339 Twin Rivers Road at Wilde Lake Village in Columbia. This event is sponsored by Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Inc, and Grace Community Church.
